What a Great God....

My blog is called "musings of a Pastor's Wife" because I've always been a pastor's wife, at least for the past 27 years until this summer.  After a year long contemplative wrestling back and forth, my husband resigned our small church of four years because he had decided that perhaps he had taken it as far as he could and wanted to give it back to God.  We both worried about what might happen with a small group meeting but in the end decided that this was God's work.  He loved it more than we could ever and He would see it through.  After months of difficult days, the remaining people agreed to merger with another church, Next Level.  For us, it seemed like God was in the details.  Those in charge had prayerfully considered the options and earnestly sought God's will and way in the decisions.  Next Level is a church that seems to have the same grace-driven culture.  The sad part (and I speak only selfishly here) is that the name Crosspoint will no longer exist as a separate body but then again, is that really what was important in the end?

So after 4 years of pouring our lives into people, do we look at that time and call it a waste because in the end we are no longer a part of it and the name doesn't exist?   To say that would be to call the work of God a complete mistake?   Just because something doesn't exist today, does that negate it previous importance or value in God's eyes.    The life change that God has done just in ourselves is something we will never be the same over nor would we want to be.    We saw men who were lost in themselves, come to an understanding of who God is and accept His Son, Jesus Christ as personal savior.    We witnessed friends who had no understanding of God's grace and acceptance, experience forgiveness and understanding under God's grace and be freed from "the laws that men impose."  We saw children learn values from God's word.  We made friends and had fellowship with other kindred spirits.  We learned, we failed, we cried, we laughed, we ate together, and we lived life together.  A waste?  No, God at work beyond ourselves and our abilities.  I will forever be grateful that God called us to start Crosspoint and He changed lifes, He met us there and He called our work complete.    The ripple affect of His Word taught at Crosspoint will only be revealed in heaven.  We were obedient to the calling and privleged to be a part.  My prayer is that Next Level will continue in nurturing the young lambs that have come home.
